The 5th Annual Sisters Empowering Sisters Conference, held March 20-21st, 2009, featured two dynamic keynote speakers: Hydeia Broadbent (International HIV/AIDS Activist) and Bevy Smith (Contributing Editor, Latina Magazine, Dinner with Bevy). Bevy Smith graciously filled in for Mimi Valdes-Ryan, who was called out of the country.

Workshop presenters and panelists included Saquota Reaves, Lauren Williams, Bridgette Lawson, Marcia Senior, Rachel Gadzick, Tanaya Thomas, Tonya Smith, Dr. Pat Isaac, Maxine Summerhill-Thompson, Denise Moore, Stephanie Hunt, Tamara Glasgow, Chrysta Wilson, Youlanda Johnson, Janae Padilla, Stephanie Lane, Fallon Tooks, Alisha Ruiz, Gladys Alonzo, Dr. Audeliz Matias, Quincy Lucas and Juan Ramos.

Over 100 girls from the Syracuse City School District took part in the 5th Annual SES Conference.
