Conference
The theme of the 18th Sisters Empowering Sisters Conference was “Sawobona: I See You.” The literal translation is “I see you; you are important to me and I value you”. A way to make the other person visible and to accept them as they are with their virtues, nuances, and flaws.
Some conference highlights included the return of the Homegirls from Homeboy Industries, Inc. and Emphasis Entertainment’s break dance crew in recognition of Hip Hop’s 50th Anniversary!
