What We Do

Through a variety of programs, The Image Initiative, Inc.®, aims to Enlighten, Engage, and Empower young women of color in Syracuse, New York.

The C.H.O.I.C.E.S Experience®

The C.H.O.I.C.E.S (Creating Heightened Opportunities in Community, Environment, and Self) Experience ® is a series of skill development and life enhancement workshops, institutes, and literary forums taking place within Syracuse University and the local Syracuse community. Workshop topics include but are not limited to: higher education, community activism, self-development, literacy, financial management, and performance art.

These workshops are for young women of color between the ages of 13 and 18 who demonstrate promise despite challenging environments and attend Syracuse City Schools and local community centers. Workshops are designed to stimulate critical thought, supply outlets, introduce our young women to aspects of life they may not ordinarily be accustomed to, and provide them with tools to be productive and contributing members of society. Our young women also acquire leadership and professional development skills. The role models and individuals they come in contact with are instrumental in their relationship and capacity building.

If you are interested in participating in the C.H.O.I.C.E.S Experience ®, please contact Semaj Campbell at scampbell@imageinitiative.org. Be sure to put CHOICES in the subject area.

Cultural Excursions

The Cultural Excursion Program provides experiences that expose our young women to new and unfamiliar environments and interesting culture. These excursions are facilitated through community and corporate partnerships. The cultural excursion program is committed to educating and broadening the horizon of our young women.
